- About Us
To that end, we offer an extensive library of pet behavior guides to help make sure both you and your pet are happy in your home.
Moving is one of the top reasons people give when they are surrendering their pets to us. We want to help you find a new home that wants both people and pets as part of its community. Our pet-friendly apartment list includes names, address and pet policies of hundreds of rentals in the area so you can find one that’s right for you.
And we understand that economic hardship can affect anyone. We’re here to help with monthly food distribution for those in need.
We’re always available to answer your questions, too. Please call us at 520-327-6088 or send us a message to reach our informed and helpful staff.
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona will be providing valuable and potentially life-saving Rattlesnake Avoidance training classes at HSSA’s Companions for Life Center throughout the spring and summer months. Each Rattlesnake Avoidance training class gives dogs the necessary training to help prevent an expensive and potentially deadly snakebite.
Tuition is $99 per dog, which includes one follow-up session (if necessary). If registering a second dog the fee is $79 and each dog must be accompanied by a separate handler. When purchasing tickets online, one ticket is required for each dog enrolled in the class.
Dogs must be at least 6 months of age and in good health; vaccinations must be shown at class to participate. There must at least one handler per dog and retractable leashes are not allowed.
Classes are conducted by local professionals from Arizona Animal Experts, Inc. and Paul Blaushild from A-dobe Dog Training.

We're Here to Help
At the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, we understand that sometimes the choice can come down to feeding yourself or feeding your pet. We want you to be able to care for your pet in hard times. That’s why we offer our monthly pet food distribution.
From 8 am-10 am on the first Sunday of each month, HSSA will have bags of cat and dog food available to those who need assistance. We do have some requirements. In order to receive food, you must provide proof of sterilization (spay or neuter) for all animals living in the home, proof of ownership and a valid government-issued ID card.
This distribution is intended for people who, because of economic hardship, may be having difficulty purchasing food for their pets.
The distribution is at our main location, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd.
If you have questions, please call 520-327-6088.
