The Humane Society of Southern Arizona provides valuable and life-saving Rattlesnake Avoidance training classes from spring to fall. Avoidance training classes gives dogs the necessary training to help prevent an expensive and potentially deadly encounter.
Deadly toads in our backyards
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona provides valuable and potentially life-saving Colorado River Toad Avoidance training classes during June through September. Each Colorado River Toad Avoidance training class gives dogs the necessary training to help prevent an expensive and potentially deadly exposure to Colorado River Toads.
Class fees and info:
Tuition for training is $125 for the first dog, which includes one free retest if necessary and only at the trainer's discretion. If registering a second dog, the fee is $105; each dog must be accompanied by a separate handler. If you would like to sign up for a refresher class after previously attending an HSSA Rattlesnake or Toad Avoidance Training, the fee will be $75. *All dog breeds welcome!
PLEASE NOTE: If you are signing your dog up for both Rattlesnake Avoidance and Toad Avoidance, you must allow a minimum of two weeks between classes.
When purchasing tickets online, one ticket is required for each dog enrolled in the class. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age and in good health. All dogs attending classes at the Humane Society must have up to date vaccinations to participate. Proof of these vaccinations must be shown to staff upon arrival. Required vaccinations include Distemper, Parvovirus (DHPP, DHLPP, DA2PP-L, DA2PP-C), and Rabies (appropriate to age). Dogs attending class must be on a 4’-6’ leash, no extending leashes (retractable) allowed. If you have registered two dogs for this class, each dog must have their own handler.

Cancellation, Refunds and Transfers:
Cancellation Policy: HSSA reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient registration, weather conditions, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances. Should HSSA have to cancel your training, we will issue you a full refund for any registration fees within ten working days of the program.
Refund Policy: HSSA will be happy to provide a full refund for your training should you cancel your reservation within 48 business hours prior to your class date. HSSA will then issue you a refund for the registration fee, minus service fees within ten working days of the event date. No refunds are issued for cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the event or training date or for no-shows. No refunds are issued should a participant be removed from the program for violation of HSSA rules and regulations.
Transfer Policy: HSSA is happy to transfer any registration to an upcoming class date within 48 business hours prior to your class date. Transfers can only be applied to classes/trainings with available tickets.
