If you've lost or found a dog or cat...
Step 1: Report The Pet Using Petco Love Lost
We have partnered with Petco Love Lost and Pima Animal Care Center to provide you with the best tools reunite lost pets. Petco Love Lost uses facial recognition technology to help reunite lost pets with their owners quickly and efficiently.
- Upload Your Pet’s Photo: Visit Petco Love Lost and upload a recent photo of your pet. The system will scan your pet’s photo against found animals at shelters and those reported by the community.
- Search for Your Pet: Use Petco Love Lost to search for found pets reported in your area. The facial recognition software will help match your pet with similar-looking animals.
- See All Lost Pets: Sort through photos of all pets, including those at HSSA, PACC, and reported by users.

Looking for our old lost and found form?
We are asking everyone to start using Petco Love Lost, but in the meantime if you'd still like to send a lost or found request to HSSA, please fill out this form.
2. Alert Your Community
- Neighbors: Inform your neighbors right away. Use platforms like Nextdoor, Pawboost, or local Facebook groups. Some local Facebook groups include: “Lost and Found Dogs and Cats in Tucson, AZ”, “Tucson Lost and Found Animals”, and “Lost and Found Pets of Pima County”. Provide a detailed description of your pet including color, size, gender, and the last known location. Attach a clear photo.
- Microchip Company: If your pet has a microchip, notify the microchip company and ensure your contact information is current.
3. Create and Distribute Flyers or Posters
- Flyer Tips: Design a flyer with a bright background, a clear photo, and concise details about your pet. Include your contact information.
- Neighborhood Search: Walk around your neighborhood, speaking with residents, delivery drivers, and landscapers. Hand out flyers and ask them to keep an eye out.

4. Visit Local Shelters
- Humane Society of Southern Arizona and Pima Animal Care Center: Visit us to check if your pet has been brought in.
- Other Shelters: Visit other local shelters, like Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) Repeat visits are crucial as new animals are brought in regularly.
Don’t Lose Hope
Finding a lost pet can take time and persistence. Many pets are found weeks or even months after they go missing. Stay vigilant and keep searching.

Bringing a Pet to Our Shelter
There is a $60 animal care fee to surrender a found pet to HSSA. If you have found a pet and cannot keep it until the owner is found, click here for more information.
Found a litter of kittens?
Each spring, local animals shelters are filled to capacity with litters of kittens who have been brought to the shelter because the person who found them did not see the mother cat and believed the kittens were in need of being rescued. It is in our nature to want to help and protect these small and defenseless animals and, without their mother, the thought that these kittens are in danger compels many people to scoop them up and bring the kittens to their local animal shelter.
