At the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, we're dedicated to helping Tucson pet owners in need. Our Pet Pantry and Food Distribution program ensures that no one has to choose between caring for their pets and their own well-being. We aim to prevent pets from being relinquished due to a lack of resources.
The Food Distribution Program also provides food support for our local community cat caregivers feeding outdoor cat colonies.
Who is Eligible:
- Low income
- Current participant in a state/federal assistance program
- Experiencing financial hardship
- Community Cat caregivers feeding colonies of outdoor cats

- First & Third Wednesdays of each month: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- First and Third Saturdays of each month: 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.
- Location: Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Main Campus - 635 W Roger Rd, Tucson, AZ
Important Notes:
- First Come, First Served: Availability, amount, and type of food/supplies are not guaranteed.
- Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and provide ID; only one person per household.
- Walk-Ins Welcome: No appointment needed. For a more efficient experience, please complete the Pet Food Assistance Request Form below.
Our commitment is to reduce the demand for sheltering services, increase the quality of life for pets in our community and to ensure we can help as many pet guardians keep their pets through challenging circumstances. HSSA utilizes a variety of resources to keep pets out of the shelter and in private homes. HSSA provides the following services to the community as an alternative to shelter surrender:

Your donation to our pet food pantry helps us buy food and supplies for pets in need. Every dollar counts and goes directly to ensuring pets have the food they need.

You can also buy pet food from any store and drop it off at our Adoptions Lobby.
Volunteer
Join us in packing and distributing food for our Pet Pantry. Whether you’re part of a group or volunteering individually, your help is crucial. Email us to learn more and get involved.

Want to become a recipient of the Greater GOODS Program and receive pet food and supplies for your animal welfare or human services organization?
The HSSA has teamed up with Greater Good Charity's GOODS Program to become a Tucson Affiliate partner, sharing resources with animal welfare agencies all over the region. Thanks to this partnership, we are able to bring more pet food and litter to the area, allowing rescues and pantries to stretch their dollars further and impact even more pets and people. Food and supplies are donated by the truckload from gracious donors, shipped to our warehouse and later distributed to qualified Rescue Bank Recipients for a minimal handling fee.
- To participate, recipient groups can be animal welfare or human services organizations such as:
- Food banks of Pet Food Pantries
- Be a 501(c) 3 animal rescue organization (e.g., cat, dog, equine, and wildlife shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries)
- State, county or regional animal welfare facilities
- Law Enforcement agencies (e.g., animal care services)
- Community Resource and Outreach (including homeless services)
- Women and Children support organizations
- Domestic Violence Shelters and Resources
- Education and Literacy Groups
- Federal government agencies including Veterans Affairs (VA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
- State and local community programs and offices

Organization must be located approximately 300 miles from us.

If shelter; rescue or sanctuary: List adoptable pets online and spay/neuter all animals prior to adoption.
