Fees and Admissions

Bringing your pet back home

We’re thrilled to help reunite you with your pet if they've found their way to us. Every animal in our care is treated with compassion and attention, including ensuring they’re up-to-date on vaccinations. To support the work we do, there is a small fee to reclaim your pet. This fee allows us to continue providing shelter and care to the next pet in need.

We understand that losing a pet can be a stressful time. If you have any questions or concerns, our admissions team is here to help. And remember, it’s against the law to abandon animals—let’s keep our pets safe and loved.

Reclamation Fees

Your pet’s well-being is our priority. If your pet required emergency medical care upon arrival, there may be an additional charge to cover those expenses.

Fee for Shelter Stay

ALTERED PETS

  • First day: $90
  • Sheltering, additional days: $35/day

UNALTERED PETS

  • Sheltering, additional days: $55/day

How much does it cost to save a life?

Getting a pet ready for their forever home takes a number of necessary steps:

The average amount spent on each shelter pet is $910.

Every pet that comes into our care receives the proper vaccinations, a spay/neuter surgery, food, shelter, a warm and dry place to sleep, and if they need it, behavioral training and special medical attention.

We also make sure every single pet in our care gets a microchip, so that if they ever get lost, they can find their way back to the people who love them.

Where do I bring my pet?

If you need to bring a pet to HSSA for admissions, you will want to go to the green Intake building.
