At the end of last month, HSSA’s Chief Development Officer, Diana Cannon, Director of Marketing and Communications, Vanessa Ford, and Director of Development, Randy Peterson, gathered at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa to attend Arizona Daily Star’s 2018 Reader’s Choice Awards. The Humane Society of Southern Arizona was nominated for several categories including “Best Non-Profit”. We were up against some worthy competition this year including the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona; to name only a few.
When it was announced that we had won for “Best Non-Profit”, the cheers and support from all the other groups in attendance was enormous and a humbling reminder of the positive impact and reach the work we do has on our community. We’re extremely proud to have won, but even more grateful to all of those who made winning possible either by voting for us, or by contributing to our efforts to save the lives of homeless pets.
And we’re not done yet! Later this fall, we are eager to hear the results of Tucson Weekly’s Best of Tucson where we are also finalist in several categories including Best Place To Donate Time or Money, Best Thrift Store, Best Pet Supply Store, Best Children’s Birthday Party (we call ’em ‘Pawties’) and Best Blog. Be sure to keep an ear to ground for those results!
