We can always use a few extra hands
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona (HSSA) welcomes community and high school groups (ages 15 and older) to schedule service events to complete projects that will provide comfort and enrichment to the animals in our care. These events are specifically for groups interested in one-time volunteer opportunities.
Note that there is no animal handling or interaction at these events.
Service group activities are determined based on need.
Service event activities may include:
Fixing, cleaning and organizing donated pet crates
Bagging food for the public food distribution
Sweeping and cleaning windows
Making no-sew cat beds
Stuffing KONG toys with peanut butter and kibble
Making catnip toys
Making dog leashes
Preparing receiving folders
Preparing adoption folders for new adopters
Painting boxes for cats to hide in
Laminating cage signs
Picking up garbage on property
Stuffing event giveaway bags
Assembling pet first aid kits
Service Groups and Donation Projects
Youth groups can make items to be used at HSSA or they may hold a supply drive or fundraiser at their own pace and in their own facility. Due to age restrictions, we are unable to host youth groups under the age of 15. The Education department will provide instruction for different items to be made, fundraising ideas and wish lists. At this time, we are unable to host any tours. Please email sgary@hssaz.org or call 520-327-6088, ext. 125 for more information.
